AI content is taking over the digital world. Well, in general conversation that is. Robots are yet to invade us, and we Rebels won’t be one to talk about that either; it’s not our speciality after all. However, we will talk about AI content and why it’s causing such a stir.

AI content or Artificial Intelligence content is nothing new. If you have been in the digital space long enough you will know that there have been many programs and platforms that utilise AI to function. What is new is the attention it is getting and, frankly, we find that fascinating.

As a marketing agency, we have been exposed to many programs and software solutions. It’s almost our responsibility to try anything new and see what works and what could benefit our clients and team members. Marketing doesn’t remain stagnant, it is always moving and changing and we need to move with it.

We have used AI to help assist us in our times of need, from writer’s block, down to research, it’s nothing we shy away from. How it’s used by each person may differ. And since ChatGPT is one of the first AI software to truly shock the world, let’s look at what AI content is.

What is AI-generated content?

AI-generated content is essentially content that has been created by Artificial Intelligence. There are so many ways that AI has been integrated into our daily lives that we don’t even realise it.

AI has been in the spotlight for the last few weeks. Mainly thanks to ChatGPT, it has stormed the internet, and no wonder. It has shocked many with what it can create within seconds.

Artificial intelligence is making leaps and bounds within many industries, and it seems that content generation is the next stage for AI take-over, or is it?

How does AI content work?

Most AI content works in a similar way. There is a space where you can input your brief, this is where you explain to the AI what you want and expect it to produce for you.

The main way that AI content works is by analysing the information that has been input into the software. For example, ChatGPT is a language software. This means that it has been created to analyse language and the structure of language. It uses a statistical equation that predicts the likelihood of certain words and phrases being used. Using this formula it will create a response based on your question or request. Neat huh? There are some great pieces online that go into the details from a development point of view, you can read more here.

There are many forms of AI creating content, from artwork to music, and more. AI is truly integrating itself within the world and workplace. So what more can it do?

ChatGPT – what can it do?

Firstly, it can’t solve a riddle. So there are points there for critical thinking and problem-solving.

ChatGPT is a piece of software that can create almost anything (we say almost because it won’t do your dirty laundry). As we mentioned above, ChatGPT is a language-based software, for now at least. This means you will have to ask it in the written word to get what you are looking for.

ChatGPT can provide content, code, responses, and more based on the information you input in the chat bar. While AI is smart, like anything it needs to be given a brief. The success of the response depends on how detailed a brief you give it.

Like all things, even when working with humans, a detailed brief will be able to get you closer to what you are looking for from the creator (or AI).

Here at Rebellion, we have tried many different requests and have tested out some of the responses. Anything from cookie recipes, painting guidance, general knowledge questions, and even asking it to create content, (this blog hasn’t been written by AI, all human thoughts and processes on this end).

How can AI technology impact digital marketing?

AI technology is already impacting digital marketing. Even if you don’t use it, the conversations that are being had online will impact digital marketing in some way.

Many people may initially believe that AI can replace the vast amount of copywriters, social media planners, and in general content creators. However, with the integration of AI, it won’t be replaced.

AI works on the fundamental concept of being given a brief. An idea. Or anything that requires it to act and create a response. That means that content creators and all of the above listed aren’t replaceable. What will make a difference, with AI being as popular as ever right now, will be how good you are at communicating the needs.

If a creator or digital marketing person is able to communicate effectively, they will be able to utilise AI to their advantage. Effective communication revolves around making your requirements clear and easy to understand.

Essentially, the emphasis will be on idea generation and brief creation. The better the idea and the brief, the better the result will be.

I love AI content, it makes the research aspect of content writing much easier and cleaner. It really helps with writer’s block and can support our SEO strategies too. I wouldn’t recommend solely relying on AI, but it certainly helps.

There are many great uses of AI technology, and we in digital marketing shouldn’t shy away from it. We can use it to help enhance our current skill set and offer more depth and detail to our clients.

After all, that’s what we should all strive for. Getting the best results possible. So using all the tools available to you is only going to be beneficial. And that’s what AI is all about, another tool to add to your toolbox to be used as and when you need it.

So, do we think AI will take over the world of digital marketing? Not likely, but will it impact how we work? That depends on how much you embrace it and what you use it for. Technology is only as good as the user. That will be the key difference between great content created with the assistance of AI, and content that is created with AI only.
