Sorry to tell you, but the only person who really cares about your business….is you. We know, it’s hard to hear right? But, you have to understand that before you can effectively market your business. So, how can you make people buy from you, and how do you generate new leads, if nobody cares about your business?

SOLVE PROBLEMS AND ADD VALUE!

Now, we’re not saying you can’t SELL, in fact, we’re saying the complete opposite! Whenever you write content, make a video, write a blog or even when you talk to prospects, you must show HOW you solve your prospect’s problem.

As an example, if we posted something that said…

“We’re really great at marketing, click to find out more!”

You probably wouldn’t click through but, if we said…

“Is your marketing not working for you? Here’s how to get real leads from your marketing efforts!”

You probably would click through (if lead generation was a problem for you.) All we have done is gone from telling our audience about US, to making it about THEM and their problem. Simple right?

And, the best part is, you’re still selling without sounding pushy and salesy, meaning it will be more likely that you’ll make people buy from you.

It’s not just titles and social posts that this should apply to; everything you do should focus on resolving your client’s problems and showing that you are the go-to person to help them.

Think about all the problems your products and service resolve and create a content plan that includes snippets of information on exactly how they do that, making it easier to make people buy from you. Figure out what aspirations your ideal clients have will also help here too. Being able to use phrases like “wouldn’t it be great if…”, “Imagine you could…”, “How easy would it be if…” are great ways to get your clients imagining themselves utilsing your products or services.

As an example, create blog posts and articles that explain how your audience can resolve a problem they are facing. Now, we’re not saying you should give away all your secrets, after all, that’s likely what they’ll be paying you for!

But, you absolutely should be positioning yourself as an “expert” (we hate that word but that’s a story for another blog!) in the market.

But, why should you make people buy from you? Well, that one’s obvious, isn’t it? That’s what we’re in business for. We’re not sure when it became taboo to admit you’re in business to make money, but we don’t like it!

That’s exactly why we’re all here; yes, helping people solve problems gives you that warm fuzzy feeling and is probably why you do what you do. But, if it doesn’t pay the bills, you’ve got problems, right?

So, implementing a good marketing strategy that will ensure you make people buy from you, is key to the success of your business.

And, if you need help figuring out how to shape your marketing strategy then you’re in the right place.

Selling Trust, Not Stuff: Why Professional Services Marketing Is Different

Selling a professional service is a slightly strange transaction. The client is being asked to pay for something they cannot examine beforehand, take home in a box or return because it looked better on the website. They cannot test a solicitor’s judgement, inspect an accountant’s advice or ask a consultant...

Is Your Business Invisible to ChatGPT?

Business owners have spent years thinking about whether their company appears on Google. They may now need to ask a second question: does it appear when somebody asks ChatGPT? People are beginning to use AI tools to research suppliers, compare services and create shortlists. Instead of searching for “accountant Birmingham”...

Referrals Are Drying Up: How Professional Services Firms Win Work in 2026

Referrals have traditionally been one of the best ways for professional services firms to win new work. A happy client recommends you to a colleague, a trusted contact makes an introduction and the resulting lead arrives with a degree of confidence already established. The difficulty is that referrals are unpredictable....
