As of January 2021 there were 4.66 billion active internet users worldwide – 59.5 percent of the global population!  There has never been a better time for businesses to include blogging in their marketing strategy.

Blogging is a great way to keep your website ‘active’, whilst driving traffic, promoting products, and boosting SEO.

In this blog we will highlight just some of the reasons why businesses should include blogging in their marketing strategy.

Blogging boosts SEO

We all know how important a good search engine ranking is and how it can impact your business.  Many people don’t realise what it takes to rank well on search engines, and blogs are a great way to do just that! Google ranks pages according to how ‘authoritative’ they are, which essentially means that in order to rank well, your site needs a lot of inbound links coming from relevant pages.

It can be easy to use a link-building service to help boost your ranking, but Google is very strict on this and you’ll probably end up getting penalised if you pick the wrong places, or don’t manage your backlinks well.  This is the last thing you want to happen! One of the best ways to do rank organically is through blogging.  Creating great content with inbound links that get organically shared, is an amazing way to maximise SEO!

You can repurpose blog content for social media

By writing blogs you are essentially creating content for your social media platforms.  When you write a new blog post, this is content that can be shared to social media which can then be shared by others.  This will help expose your content to a new audience who may not already know who you, and your brand, are.  One of our top tips is to take snippets from the blog and produce multiple social media posts.

Keep your audience updated about your business

A blog is a fantastic way to keep your audience in the loop about your business.  Of course, you can use your website to communicate with your audience, but a blog offers more flexibility to connect with customers.  Think of your blog as a direct communication channel, a space where you can talk in-depth about products, services, updates etc.  It’s a great way to show off your brand personality!

It drives long term results

Let’s say that you publish a blog post on Monday, it gets 100 views that day, 50 views on Tuesday, and 250 views on Wednesday.  After this, the views and clicks start to decline, and you think that might be it for that particular post.  But that couldn’t be further from the truth.  Now that the post is ranking, that blog post can generate traffic for weeks, months, and even years to come.  One of our top tips to generate long-term results is to create evergreen content.  This is content about topics that will remain relevant and valuable over a longer period of time.  It helps to rank over time, not just in the near future.

It’s easy!

With content management systems such as WordPress, setting up a professional and slick-looking blog has never been easier.
